I have a set of IBM Speakers that is missing the transformer/power source (it needs a 12volt DC). I have a substitute one but I'm not sure of the polarity.I think the model of speakers are 6286. The transformer I have is NEGATIVE CENTER. I just want to make sure I don't BLOW the speakers with the WRONG POLARITY! Would you know?

SOURCE: LCW-0120 Labtec speaker polarity

I am assuming that you already know which wires go to which speaker and all you need to know is which one is negative and which one is positive. Here is one way to find out. If you can access the speakers at all or at least see the cones, it will be easy.
Take a small 1.5v battery and connect it to the wires in question, connect one end to the positive(+) and the other to the negative (-) side of the battery, don't do it for a long time, just enough to observe movement on the speaker cones. Observe the cones of the speakers, if the cones get pushed or moves out, take note of the polarity of the battery because now you know which is which. Now if the cones, move inward or it gets sucked in when you apply voltage, then it's backwards.

SOURCE: Need to know polarity of power supply for JBL

Look where the plug goes in
There will be a C shape with a dot in the middle. Follow the line attached to the dot and you will see a + or - which is the polarity. Next you need to know Voltage. Look in the same area, or on the label for this info. If there is NO info by the power plug, it might be AC, which has no polarity - just plug it in. The label may have this information and will say something like 12VDC or 12VAC that is the key. DC Matters (+ and -) AC does not.

SOURCE: What kind of external power supply does the media speaker needs?

Juster-Avia 3D-107 Media speakers.

I wanted to know what kind of external power supply it needed. I open the case and saw 4 diodes which tells me is a bridge rectifier circuit. I also looked at the filter cap and saw ????uF at 28 volts. Therefor, I did the Scientific Wild *** Guess( A.K.A. SWAG METHOD)
12 volts AC out at 1.6 amps or higher.
