I have a dell 1525 laptop - I replaced the inverter, I replaced LCD the new LCD also had an inverter and I replaced the video card. I still get a faint dark screen. I can hear the music when Winn 7 boots up and I even have mouse action but still have faint dard screen. Could it be the video cable? If it is why and how would have power enough to faintly see the desktop.

If this is your answer I want my $6.00 back. 1) you can replace the video on this laptop. Flip it over and unscrew three screws and the card pops out. 2) both inverters are new and tested. 3) You did not answer my question with regard to the video cable.

Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.

What do you mean you replaced the video card? that is impossible, you would have had to replace the whole mainboard.

Okay you replaced the inverter, I suppose it was a tested and known good condition working inverter? does it work on another machine?

The lcd display, same with inverter? Has it been tested that its backlights work properly?

Then aslong as the small cable between mainboard and inverterboard is connected properly, it should work. But if it does not you have 3 possible causes.

1, Faulty display backlights
2, Faulty inverter board
3, bad cable / inserted wrong or motherboard is not providing the required electricity to the inverterboard.

    Hi,

Are you sure you have posted the correct model of laptop - DELL 1525? The card in the bottom is a Wireless adapter in this model. Not a video card.

  • Ekse Oct 16, 2010

the two wires that go from the card in the bottom of the laptop to the display are the wireless antennas.

  • Ekse Oct 16, 2010

I suppose there is a small, very small chance of the problem being the video cable that goes from the lcd & inverter to the computers mainboard. if its cut it might not be supplying power to the inverter.

Would you get back to me about the model of the laptop as I asked just a few minutes ago?

You have gotten your refund, which is fine with me, but please tell me, is the laptop a 1525? There is no video card in the bottom, you must have mistaken the Wireless lan card or the FMC to a video card.

  • Ekse Oct 17, 2010

Your machine has a Integrated Video chipset that you can not replace, in the bottom you have a Flash Cache module, that speeds up the machine, but has noting to do with video, next to it you have a wireless lan card.

I would really like to know what you think is a video card in this machine. Or tell me if its another model.

Talking to me is completely free at this point.
