Consider yourself lucky, this one is easy to fix. All you need to do is replace the hard drive with ANY 500gb or smaller 2.5 inch SATA drive.
You can get a 250gb drive for less than $50 from Best Buy right now. Just swap the drive out, turn on the PS3 and follow the onscreen instructions.
