I do a clean install from a previously used good XP cd and I keep getting errors installing some dll files - different each time I do the clean install.
Any advise on this?

Try to copy the content from CD to USB flash stick and run the installation from stick. Remember to have set the USB disk for booting in BIOS. I had the same problems. I think it's because it tries to unpack some files on the drive it is installing from (CD can't be the one) - some wrong settings.
