Here's the right script to tell them:
>"i'm calling in to ask help in setting my Verizon Provided modem to Bridged Mode."
>it is also advisable to Unplug the belkin router first. i'm sorry this tip is not that helpful but working with an ISP before I know what are scope of support is ?
>comments ratings suggestions and violent reaction will greatly be appreciated
Thanks for your thoughts, but I'm not sure I understand them. Here's what I think the deal is, you may be right, maybe I should change the modem back to bridged, but then I cannot access the internet. But here's what I think is really the problem is -- the IP address. The modem's IP address is different from the router, yet when I type in the router's IP address, it goes to the modem's internal settings. Could there be internal settings in the Modem that I could change, i.e., where it identifies the IP address, to change it to the router's IP address? It is a verizon Westell modem, but I cannot figure out how to change the description of the modem's IP address in the internal settings. Does that make any sense? Thanks for any thoughts.
well, i believe the ip address you have for the service is Dynamic, it means that it changes all the time so really can't force the modem to have a specific ip address or default gateway. the only way for you to straighten it up is to really set modem on bridged mode and reconfiguring the router's settings. The router, by the way, only works if the modem is bridged.
