When I turn the camera on I get the message "memory card error". The only button on the camera which then works is the menu button but it just brings up the screen and then the same error message. Yes, I have replaced the memory card and the first memory card works in our other camera so it is not a problem with the card. My computer also fails to recognise the camera when I connect it via the usb port. Any bright ideas?

You need to format the card in the camera. Go into the menu and scroll to "format" and follow the on-screen instructions. This will erase and initialize the card . To download pictures, the most trouble-free way is to use a card reader and download to a folder you create on your desktop.

my problem is exactly the same as the other guys one can someone help me with it when i turn is on it says "memery card not formatted" and some tims it says "memery card errer" so i put it in the computer and it says "your memery card is not formatted do you want to format it if you do clik YES" so i cliked yes and it says card can not be formatted can u help me my memery card cost me $55 and i can not buy a new one and i have lots of stuff on it i dont wont to lose
