There's only one mode where you can superimpose the date and time with pictures using your camera. try to use Postcard mode and then check under mode menu if date stamp is set to either date or date and time.

As far as I have experienced, there is no setting for imprinting the time/date directly into the pictures. There is an option to print pictures with time/date, see user manual page 51, point 5. You can however manually imprint pictures with any decent graphic program, looking at the timestamp of your pictures.
The camera settings menu should give you the choice whether you want to imprint the date or not. However did you know that digital photos have an invisible exif data file attached to them. It gives you information about the camera model, date, time, exposure etc etc. Some photo viewers like irfanview can show you this file and you need not spoil your photos with a date imprint. ( depending on what they are an imprint can be useful or distracting) .
The EOS range does not automatically "imprint" the date/time on the images. Being digital, most of the information can be found in the EXIF data anyway. If you want to print the photos with the date at the corner, I believe ZoomBrowser EX has that function. ZoomBrowser came with your camera amongst a few other CDs (eg Adobe Photoshop Elements, DPP etc)
In order to imprint the date stamp on photos, the photo size (L, M1, M2, M3, S, Postcard) must be set to Postcard, and in the recording menu the "Date Stamp" option must be set to Date or Date & Time.
This will always be displayed in your camera. However to choose what will imprint on the pix :
Turn your dial to SETUP and select DATE IMPRINT. Then select OFF (nothing will imprint on pix), or DATE (for just the date to be imprinted), or DATE and TIME (for both time and date to be imprinted)
I'm with you on this one. The date information is in the EXIF metadata on each photo whether or not you imprint the date/time on the image. There is software available (some free) that will render the date/time on a reproduction of the image. So why make the camera imprint it and ruin what might be an artistic shot?
To disable date imprint, enable the camera as if to take a photo. Press the MENU button, then scroll to the SETUP MENU and press in on the joystick.Scroll up or down to the DATE STAMP option and press in on the joystick. Select OFF.
The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.
Dear Bryx, Unfortunately there is no way to have the nikon d80 print the date directly on the images, but the information is stored to the EXIF data on every image.
This can be done with photo editing software like photo shop on you computer. hope this helps. it the photo was already taken with the time stamp on at the time of the photo it will be on the photo and the only way to get rid of it is software.
