I had a folder had almost 200 items of files in it. One day i found when i click on the file, and then it disappear. I try to click on others, and it happen in the same way. And then i found few files had disappear while i just click on it. I restart the computer, and almost 3/4 items in that folder had gone!! And now it only had 23 items in that folders. I check my trash folder, nothing missing files in it. What is going on with my lacie?

One week ago my LaCie external disk has been locked during a system reinstallation process in which the hard drive was plugged in.  The message was that I had no permission to access it. I thought I would loose for ever all the files I have been backed up for years. But finally I have got the solution for that. There is a sofware called MacPilot (I used version 3.2.6, $20, 15-day trial) that fixes it. Once instaled, click TOOLS, then "Files&Folders" at left, then "Unlock File or Folder", press "Choose", it opens FINDER and then you click LacCie Disk. When the padlock symbol at the botton of LACie disapears, you can finally change the permissions to "read&Record". That's all, and I hope it helps. 
I recommend that you always unplug external hard drivers during system reinstallation to prevent that.

Have you tried showing hidden and system files?
In the Windows Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Options or Folder Options.
In the View tab, scroll in the list and make sure show hidden files is selected. You can also unselect the 'hide system files' option.

That will show you anything on the disk!

Did you try showing "hidden folders and files"?
In the Explorer, select the Tools menu, and pick Folder Options.
Select the View tab and in the list enable "show hidden files and folders".
You can also try showing system files (so choose not to hide them).

That should show you all files and folders on the disk.

Do make sure you are logged in as a user with admin rights.

It appears you have an external hard drive. It should connect to your computer with a USB cable. Make sure the external hard drive is turned on and running before you connect the usb cable to the computer. Some external hard drives have an on/off switch and some do not. you can hear it running if you put your ear close to the case.

When you plug it in, wait a few minutes and the computer should indicate that it has recognized it. (sometimes this does not happen) In any case, after a few minutes, open My Computer (Computer, in Windows 7) (sometimes referred to as Explorer- NOT to be confused with Windows Explorer which is an internet browser). You should see a list of recognized drives including your external hard drive. Doubler click on it and you should be able to see your files.

If it doesn't show in Explorer, the computer might be trying to assign a drive letter to it that is already taken. To fix that, go to Control panel, Administrator Tools, Computer management, Disk Management. You should see your external drive listed and you can assign an unused drive designation to it there. You should then be able to go back to Explorer and see it. You might have to refresh the Explorer screen.
