Some file may be protected one. unprotect them dele files one by one go to properties by right click then tools then error checking then click chek now after checking errors try to format it

yes your pendrive is attactked by a severe virus.......you need format it you can do only one thing click on format option or restart the pc then press f8 thenan stat windows setup when you reach the formatting option then only format that pendrive.............
may be ur pendrive is corrupted...with virus/trojen
try conencting it on another machine...and do a virus scan...pendrives are like floppy drives...they catch the flu of virus/trojen very frequently...unlike CDs...
your pendrive is infected with Autorun virus to remove this virus install malwarebytes (It is a antimalware software ) scan your whole computer with your pendrive when you remove the virus format your pendrive .
If the above method is not work Try to format in other operating system like in vista or in 7 but not in xp
check pendrive with other computers.If it is not working then pendrive having problem. Otherwise check your smps, some times if you connect more peripherals, pendrive will not detect because of power problem.
it is due to virus problem take this pendrive to another computer and u can do the formatting. if that is not possible then try deleting some files nad do the formatting or format ur machine and do the formatting or none of the solution works then the usb disk is corrupted.
