Two thing to check before we build the RAID on your computer.
1. Is the RAID enabled in the system setup
2. Have you installed the Raid Driver
- To download RAID driver for the motherboard
3. If you have already installed the operating system you can download the ATI RAID Tool to configure the RAID from within the OS.
4. Download the usermanual from the link below and go the Appendix section B , for step by step instruction oon how to configure the RAID bios.

In case you need furthur help , reply to the post.
In case you are getting an error message or the system is not reconganizing the harddrives in the RAID setup check , for cable and ports by reseating them.

Thanks. I have downloaded the manual and followed the instructions for setting up the non bootable RAID array. Why use the system driver and not the RAID driver? I have downloaded the RAID driver and haven't been able to load it. I just reformatted the boot drive again to try reinstalling the OS. Anything I should do when I reinstall. What exactly does enabling RAID in the system setup mean. I am going under BIOS and selecting RAID and then setting up the array in the RAID setup (Control F) during startup.

You may not been able to update the BIOS as, the BIOS has inbuilt lock mechanism that would not allow you to update the BIOS.
To read on the same , go to page 3-9 in the user manual.
What is meant by checking if the RAID is on
Press Del key to go into the system setup
1. Under standard CMOS features check if all the hard drives are available.
2.Under page Integrated Peripherals
Check the Jmicron 368 AtA controller refer page 3-11 in user manual
3.Go On-chip option and hit enter >Check Raid mode.

First of all you need to make sure that your motherboard really supports RAID 5 - only if it has SATA III and the AMD SB850 southbridge. Then buy 3 identical drives. Then you must plug them in the correct SATA sockets - the first 3 ones. Then you must go into the BIOS (Integrated periferals) and activate the RAID and configure it correctly - set the disks 0 and 2 as data and 1 as parity. That should be it. Now all you should have left to do is to install Windows 7.

I have the MIS MB, 3 1.5 TB eSATA drives, 1 250 GB eSATA for the OS (Windows 7 Home Premium). I have updated the BIOS. I set the BIOS to RAID (IDE and AHCI are other options). I go into the RAID setup (*control F*) and set the LD (option #2) to RAID 5 and put *Y* behind each of the 1.5 TB drives to select them for the array. When I reboot, it sees 3 drives 1) The RAID array 2) 250 GB boot drive 3) My BRD optical drive. When Windows starts to load, it stops before all 4 colors of the Windows symbol come together and reboots. It keeps doing it until I go into BIOS and change it to IDE. It then boots fine. I have reinstalled Windows 4 times. When installing, it asks for drivers. I have the Driver disk from the MB and have also downloaded the drivers from MIS website and burned to a CD. If I install with the BIOS set as IDE it will see the drivers on the disks but only after I click "show drivers not compatible with the current hardware". If I try to install with BIOS set as RAID it does not see the drivers on either disk even if I check for it to show noncompatible drivers. I am at a loss. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
