Osterizer I have an wonderful old Model 442 Super Deluxe Osterizer. The other day I was making a thick salad dressing with tahini and dried tomatoes. I thought the tomatoes were awfully hard and chunky, but it was the SPOON I'd left in there. ***sigh*** It is a wonder the glass jar didn't shatter. The blades seem okay, and the machine runs smoothly as long as there's nothing in the jar. Then the noise is appalling. Upon further scrutiny, I have determined that the rubber-based metal prong on which the jar sits comes off easily, something I never noticed before. The rubber bit looks rather worn as well. Is there hope for this blender? Can I repair it? Can anyone repair it? Thank you.

    I had exactly the same problem this morning with my Osterizer Model 442, trying to chop up some frozen fruit. The drive shaft and chrome washer on the motor unit lifted off to reveal a rubber cylinder. I can't tell whether it's supposed to be attached to the motor shaft or if it's a friction drive. The rubber was quite hard, and somewhat abraded. Any ideas for repair?

We have an OLD Oster blender model 442. It is over 50 years old. Problem is one of the seals is no longer usable. Anybody have any ideas on obtaining a seals for this antique.
there are compaies around that sell seals , bearings and "O" rings
see if you have such an operation in your state and contact them with the measurements of the seal

Making meringue with hand held bamix
Use the A blade and make sure whatever you are mixing the egg whites in is scrupulously free from any grease etc. Make sure the bowl is clean and dry before you use it.

Where can I find a gasket for Sunbeam 2774 blender???
If you cannot find one, well in the "Old" days we used to make gaskets out of Thick Brown Paper Bags. Using the OLD gasket as a template simply trace around it & cut it out. Lightly Oil it and use it as normal. Usually works great, sometimes you need two, to get the thickness.

Leaking from the bottom of the glass container through the screw
Check the rubber gasket for damage or hardening and also for chipped glass on the sealing surface. Make sure the ring is not cracked causing loss of compression of the seal.

Also check that the leak is NOT at the shaft seal. Replacement parts should be readily available,

Connection between the motor and the blender unit (where the spinning takes place) - get extremely hot and blender does not seem to blend well. Motor works fine without the top - and the top seems to spin...
Replace the blade assembly immediately. They are available from Cuisinart's website. Sugars and other stuff can gum up the blade assembly over time, so it will periodically need to be replaced. A quick and easy way to keep the blade assembly clean and working longer is to put water and a drop of dishwashing soap in the blender after use and run the blender at low speed for 15-20 seconds - an old Osterizer trick.

Osterizer blender problem
Is the black plastic part, seal, and glass portion snugly fitted together? If so, it's likely that the black plastic part isn't making contact with the pin. On mine I have to turn it about a quarter turn to lock it to the motor/ drive pin.

If I have a hard object such as ice cubes too firmed placed in the blender against the blade and the glass, I shake the container to loosen the materials and reseat it onto the drive pin as mentioned above.

You can replace the Osterizer "Standard Blade Assembly" (which includes a new rubber gasket) without buying a new and expensive glass jar. See http://www.householdappliance.com/blenderparts.html or one of the other appliance repair parts websites. After 20 years of use, it's time for a new blade and bearing.
