Error message I keep getting Could not read ICC profile. Saving image cancelled. What does this mean?

I get the same message "Could not read the ICC profile. Saving image cancelled. This message comes up when scanning, not printing. I tried downloading the ICC profiles, but I don't know what to do with them or how to install them. I'm running Mac OS 10.5.5. with an Epson RX 595 photo printer.
