The selection switch to turn on the camcorder for camera/off/vcr does not work, the vcr is fully functional but the camera wont even turn on

Check to see if the stanby lever that surrounds the record switch on the back of the camera has inadvertently been put on standby. If this has happened, the VCR will work but not the camera. Move it off of lock to standby and it should crank right up.
