HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Apr 04, 2008

Error message I have this unit for one year. Started to really use the unit in late November. Changed black, cyan magneta and yellow cartridges in the last four weeks. I got an error message ink system failure error message 0xc18A0107. I spoke to HP tech support online and they said cannot be repaired. They mentioned a hardware failure and advise to purchase another "upgrade" unit and sending them my unit. Can you tell me what part is bad?

  • Anonymous Apr 04, 2008

Yes I will like to obtain more assistance. On power up the printergo through a setup routine when I first got the printer. Now I observed it is giving more clicks than before and the error message on immediately. I spoke with HP but they are not helping they said it is a hardware issue but would not say specifics. The error code is indicated.

I could have done so without paying for fixya comments. I thought that you may have gone through this type of issue and would be able to help. Are these hardware problems inherited with HP printers that you know of?

on the c6180 there are seaparate black and color buttons for the copy and scan sections. You are saying to press all these at the same time. I have tried all these combinations, not working. Is it in the pump section that is bad? I have the 4 sides of the printer case apart. I can see the 6 tubes going from pump to printer head. I beleive this is really a bad design for the ink to travel in these tubes. Does the pump have to be primed like a water pump?

An 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The all-in-one cannot copy, receive faxes, or print. Solution

  1. Press the On button to turn the all-in-one off.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the all-in-one.
  3. Remove all the ink cartridges.
  4. Wait two minutes.
  5. Plug the power cord into the back of the all-in-one.
  6. Press the On button to turn the all-in-one on.
  7. Install the ink cartridges when prompted.
If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved. If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the all-in-one. Hope it could help....!

Is your carriage move freely....if not, maybe put a little bit of oil on it and try it again....

  • Anonymous Apr 04, 2008

The last thing that i'd could tell you is to try by puting hot water, but be very carefull to not put water on your contact, into the buse of the service station...Maybe there's dry ink in your rubber tube....

  • Anonymous Apr 05, 2008

Maybe you should bring it to a service tech for....You may need a good clean up....

This is an ink system error

  • Anonymous Apr 04, 2008

You cant actually troubleshoot the issue, its a hardware issue already and chances are it will cost you as much as buying a new one if you are going to have it repaired

    Oops forgot the link!

Let me research that error some more.

  • Anonymous Apr 04, 2008

OK, what you need to do is manually reset your printer:

Hold down the OK, Cancel, Black, and Color
buttons all at the same time and turn the printer off. Keep holding the
buttons down until the printer shuts off completely, then turn the printer back on. You
will have to turn the printer off twice and then it will recalibrate.
Make sure you have ink cartridges in the printer so that it can reset.

    Good Luck!

  • Anonymous Apr 04, 2008

Sorry, it looks like the C6180 might not have a "color" or "black" button like other HP all-in-one printers. In that case, just hold the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons in the above instructions.

  • Anonymous Apr 04, 2008

Turn the printer on and wait for it to settle down and display the error. Hold down the "OK" , "Cancel"
, "Black," and "Color" buttons all at the same time and turn the printer off. Keep holding the
buttons down until the printer shuts off completely, then turn the printer back on. You
will have to turn the printer off twice and then it will recalibrate.
Make sure you have ink cartridges in the printer so that it can reset.

Yes, this problem is inherent to HP All-In-One printers across several product lines.

Here's some other users with the same problem.

    Here's a lot more.

The reset key sequence I posted here is the only solution that seems to solve this error with any sort of regularity. HP does not acknowledge this problem as being user-serviceable, as you can see by all of these other frustrated users who were told the same thing as you: "Send your unit in for repair."
