black display

Question

when placed in shooting mode, display is black. and when i take pictures, the recorded image is also black. but in playback mode, i can see the previous recorded images, and it's okay. but the recently recorded images taken when that 'black display problem' occur, the image is just really black. what could be the problem?

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
