Just setting up small business the intercom feature is not working between the 2 phones. Line 1 is voice Line 2 is fax and lines 3 and 4 are rollover lines. I had a professional come in aand do all the wiring for me and I am confident he did e/t right. He rx'd the phones and is baffled by the intercom not working. I have already exchnged one thinking it was defective. I am using Nuvox and T1 so no DSl involved. Any suggestions?

Is one of the 2 phones transformer plugged into a power strip? If so, try putting it directly into the wall, most power strips do not pass the signal properly

RCA 2542 phones use a different codec than that provided by SIP providers like NuVox or, in my case, CBeyond. The CBeyond installer said he groaned whenever he saw intercom phones. RCA's documentation is useless, and so is their phone support - they suggested I return the phones for replacement...in one client's office there are 9 of them. I'm not sure if the CBeyond guy was spouting B***S*** or not, but my next step was to call Cisco.
Anybody else have RCA phones and CBeyond phone service and made it work?
