What is a sound a card

the sound card is the motherboard component that processes audio/sound/music on the system. In portable systems it is almost always a component of the motherboard.
The sound card functions using audio drivers. Older systems may have sound cards with drivers that are already found as part of WIndows, but many require a discrete driver installed to function. If needed the driver can usually be found at the support web site of the manufacturer.
