Dont have audio device

Check device manager if the Audio device is detected.

Check Audio device has mark like this ! - i suggest uninstall / reinstall the audio device driver. download the driver from dellsupport.com drivers and download page.

If the audio device has ? mark it means that computer not able to recognize the audio hardware. if you are using audio onboard replace motherboard. if the audio has expansion card reseat the card then try again. if all fails then try a different audio card if passed then the audio card is faulty. if all fails using a different audio card it means the motherboard slot is faulty. replace mobo.

There is no multimedia audio controller installed so that there is no sounds

You can download the audio drivers for your computer from the audio card manufacturer's WEB site.
I cannot give you the link to the
audio card manufacturer's WEB site because you have not provided me with the details of the make and model of your audio card.

Does my compaq presario CQ62 havee a sound card?

No it has Integrated Audio.

The term Sound Card is a misnomer of sorts, that has been used by those who review computers, and those who have no idea of what they're talking about, and relay it to the general public.
Just like stating a Graphics Card.

It is a Sound Adapter Card, and a Graphics Adapter Card.
A circuit board with either an Audio chipset, or a graphics chipset soldered to it. (GPU)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU

A Sound Adapter Card, or a Graphics Adapter Card is removable.
Integrated Audio, or Integrated Graphics is not.

Integrated Audio is a audio chipset that is soldered to the motherboard. Not removable, or replaceable as an FRU by a general repair tech. (Field Replacement Unit)

[The chipset is soldered in a BGA. Ball Grid Array. Takes a BGA Reflow Machine)

Chip and Chipset are slang terms to represent I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Circuit

The Audio chipset manufacturer is not stated, but it is probably an audio chipset manufactured by Conexant, or RealTek.

Aplogizes for the 'long winded dissertation', but I despise someone just stating, NO, and not explaining why.

When i am installingconxtant audio driver it is telling media device not found and not installing

Typically, if you are getting a "device not found" error upon trying to install an audio device driver, there are a number of issues that could be going on at one time.

First: You may have the wrong device driver or version of the device driver for the device intended for. Check the hardware version number and verify on the website of the hardware device (the audio card if it is an independent audio card that is what you are referring to) what is the latest revision of the driver. Download the driver and install it.

Second: If your device is an external audio card, make sure it's fully inserted into the PCMIA slot (seriel port if being used). If so, then accomplish the following procedure: Power down your PC. Remove the Audio Card and reboot PC. Allow PC to recognize no audio card, then shut down PC and reinstall Audio Card. Reboot PC and install with new Audio Driver

One of the two steps above should rectify the problem. If it doesn't, then the last resort is to assume the Audio card is faulty if it's an external Audio card.

If you have an internal Audio card, then there can be a faulty portion on the sound portion of the motherbood, which then would require the entire motherboard to be replaced. But before you result to this, be sure you have the newest Audio driver for the Audio Codec and installed correctly.

Please keep in mind, Conexant is an OEM supported Audio Codec and you need to refer to the maker of the PC itself for driver support. I.E. it may be a Conexant Audio chipset installed in a HP PC. So, be sure you go the manufacturer website such as "HP" for the audio driver support.

Hope this helps,

Windows XP SP3 platform with single Delta 66. Record audio works fine but I'm unable to hear played back audio through computer. It appears onboard audio card disabled. Any suggestions?

Go to Device Manager and enable the audio card.
If you cannot enable the audio card or it is not working then install the audio driver again.

Turning my saa7130 into my default audio card

I went through the same issue when I bought this unit new. After going round and round, I learned that you MUST use the little dual plug audio wire to put on end into the video card OUT plug (green out line) and the other end into the Audio Card IN (blue in line). That will splice your TV Card into your audio card and sound will miracuosly appear (once you fine tune your audio outputs!). Hope that helps!
