You will need to download the drivers for the wireless card from Gateway's support site. Try the wireless drivers, under network, at the link below. If these aren't the right one's, then back up a page and have the site automatically find you machine. After finding it there will be a list of drivers, the wireless drivers can be found under networking.

Heat dissipation from the unit in the same area of the speaker assembly, especially since you stated that the RIGHT speaker was smoked. Similar problems occur with this design flaw with any manufacturer as HP has the same problem with some of their models.
Your heat exhaust is killing the speaker, and I would also bet that your chipset is AMD and not Intel, the latter having solved it's heat dissipationn problems.
A more aggressive heat dissipation solution on the motherboard or redirection of the exhaust past fewer heat sensitive components would be a design goal.
