No Power Hi all, I have the SP 450 running on a machine I built about two years ago. I have experienced no problems since then...until yesterday. I hit the power switch and nothing happens. I checked all connections to ensure they were intact and found all to be intact. Are there any known issues with this PSU? Should I need another power supply, what are some good power supplies out there currently? I have a working knowledge of computers and can do stuff as long as it is explained well. Thanks for the help in advance!

Ultra is a good brand, i have had one for Two years with no problems and it has a warranty on it.

opening a power suply is not a good idea unless you have a good knowledge of electrical work. Power supplies have capacitors like a flash in a camera, but alot more powerfull, they can retain a charge even after being unplugged, allthough newer ones have LEDs on them that stay on till all the power drains. Still, be carefull, they can kill you if you go tinkering around.

Check the fuse like the other guy said, that may be it. Look at the Capacitors, they are cylinders that have a flat too and connect to a little board with two wires. If they are Domed or cracked on top, they are bad, or if they are ooozzing stuff out the top or look crusty, they are bad, Buy a New one, its not worth the touble taking apart and messing with it and risking, frying your Mobo and other stuff with it.

power suplies are cheap online through Tiger direct or New Egg, but a computer store will have Good brands and some generic brands. The more you pay, usually the better.

Hi, remove your power supply from the case, onen it and remove all dust from it. Inside you should see a glass fuse, if tis is blown replace it and all should be ok.
If the fuse is intact test it with a multi meter, [this can also be done across a light and wires with a battery] If you find the fuse intact and still have no power then replace the PSU with any simalar watt unit. The only brand I would advise against is Ritmo as these are not a high quality PSU. There are quite a range of brand names which can be purchased on Ebay.
