Canon multifunction printer

Hello experts, I need to replace the waste ink tank on my printer. Do you know where it is located? I have a canon pixma mp 130 printer.

I believe that he is reffering to the waste ink tank where the cartriges stop to the right when not being used. There are two small foam pads over there.
I cleaned mine by opening lid and have carriage run to the left, then I reach in with a q-tip and press down repeatly until q-tips are almost clean. You will need a flashlight to see waht you are doing.

Solution: Replace ink tank(s) MP130

Replacing an Ink Tank When ink is running low, the LCD will display [BLACK INK LOW] or [COLOR INK LOW] warning you to have a new ink tank ready before the ink runs out. Ink tanks compatible with the machine are as follows:
Black ink tank: BCI-24 Black
Color ink tank: BCI-24 Color CAUTION: Do not replace ink tanks while the machine is printing or performing another operation.

  1. If replacing both ink tanks, remove and replace each one individually.

  2. Make sure the device is powered on.

  3. Lift the Scan Unit until it locks into place (1). The Print Head Holder moves to the center.

  4. Open the Paper Output Tray (2).

  5. Open the Inner Cover.

    CAUTION:
    * Do not try to manually move or stop the Print Head Holder.
    * Do not touch any metal parts.


  6. Hold the empty ink tank's tab and pull forward to release it.

    CAUTION:
    * Do not remove the print head from the machine.
    * Remove one ink tank at a time.
    * Do not touch the transparent film (A), film cable (B), ink absorber (sponge partcanon multifunction printer - sj402026.jpgy metal parts.

    IMPORTANT:
    a. Discard the empty ink tank according to local laws and regulations for disposal of consumables.

    b. Handle ink tanks carefully to avoid staining clothing or the surrounding area.


  8. Remove the new ink tank from its packaging.

    CAUTION:
    * Do not touch the ink port (B).
    * Do not shake or drop the ink tank as the ink may leak and stain your clothes or hands.
    * Do not attempt to reattach the protective cap ocanon multifunction printer - sj402036.jpgve it.
    * Do not place the ink port in contact with any other surface.

  10. Insert the ink tank into the empty slot on the print head.

  11. Press firmly on the ink tank's tab until it locks into place.

    IMPORTANT:
    a. Set a black ink tank in the right slot of the print head.

    b. Set a color ink tank in the left slot of the print head.


  12. If you need to replace another ink tank, repeat steps 6 to 11.

  13. Close the Inner Cover.

    CAUTION: Press the center of the Inner Cover until the cover locks into place.
  14. Return the Scan Unit to its original position.

  15. The LCD displays a message asking if you replaced an ink tank.

  16. If you replaced an ink tank, press [-]. If you did not, press [+].

  17. The LCD displays a message asking if you replaced the black ink tank.

  18. If you replaced the black ink tank, press [-]. If you did not, press [+].

  19. The LCD displays a message asking if you replaced the color ink tank.

  20. If you replaced the color ink tank, press [-]. If you did not, press [+].
    The ink counter is now reset, and replacement of the ink tanks is completed.

    NOTES:
    a. Pressing [+] does not reset the ink counter. Be sure to press [-] if you replaced the ink tank.

    b. If you pressed [+] by mistake, follow the procedure to reset the ink counter. (See Resetting The Ink Counter)
