Static screen Well, I suppose it can't hurt to try, although I'll be very surprised if there's an answer that doesn't involve the trashcan. I got a Palm M100 several years ago, as a gift; it worked for a little while, and then it died. I remember it being somewhat gradual, but I'm not sure - it was quite a while ago. By the time I'd gotten ahold of the person who had given it to me and they had dug up the warranty information, it wasn't covered anymore... I just came across it again in a long-packed-away box, and, well, I'd really liked it while it worked. I put in some fresh batteries and tried it out, and, of course, it still has the same problem it had before - no better and no worse. It turns on, but all that comes up on the screen is a static pattern. I cannot, in fact, turn it off; if it has power, it puts up the static. None of the buttons or poking at the touchscreen have any effect at all. Wait - that's not quite true: The reset button in the back will clear the screen for a moment, so *that* can turn it off briefly, but then it goes back to static. So, I presume the same conclusion I came to years ago still applies: It's dead. But it can't hurt to ask...can anybody suggest anything I might try? Wild solutions that involve opening it up and mucking about with the electronics are entirely welcome, if there's any chance of that helping and somebody knows what I might want to muck with - it sure can't get any *worse*, and there's no warranty to void...
