Hell I have a 52" Westinghouse Flat Pannel TV about 1 yr old. Yesterday while watching, the screen went black. Sound still working. Attaching another flat screen TV to the same HDMI line produced a good picture. Tried all HDMI connections into the TV with no luck. NOW here is the bug story. With NOTHING attached to the TV (no input) and powered on I get NO menues at all. NOTHING on the screen. NO response to the MODE selectors or side controls = NO DISPLAY OR MENUs. ANY ideas ?? Thank you, norm 8587358235 mccoy.norm@gmail.com

    Thank you, Mr Smith !

Could any of these problems be fixed by a repairman AT MY HOUSE ?
I would rather NOT move or ship this 90# set.

Have you had any similar complaints about this 52" (or any) Westinghouse flat panel sets ?

IF SO....I will NOT buy again or recommend Westinghouse to my friends.
Will these parts be EXPENSIVE or should I junk the set and start with a new set ?

    Thanks for your FAST response.

    Norm

How would you begin to have this fixed if you were me ?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you might have a backlight issue with this TV set. It could also be due to the inverter circuits for the backlights. The inverter is the power supply source for the backlights. There could also be a screen driver problem; if it is then you have to change the entire board. All this is only recommended if you have some kind of expertise for checking the internal circuitry of the TV as these units have high voltages running even when the set is switched off.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

    Norm,

Thanks for your reply. If I were you and I didn't have any experience in repairing these kinda sets ;-( then the first thing I would do is call a repairman in my area and take a estimate over the phone by letting him know what the issue is. I believe the cost to get this fixed might be around $200 depending on the parts that need to be replaced or may be more depending on your area.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks
