How do I boot into the CMOS to change the boot order and boot to CD?
While switching on your system press F10 and the go to the Advanced setup. There you select and press Enter key on change boot order and then change the order by using Page up or page down key. Alternatively you may use Esc key while showing the compaq logo on boot, you will be able to change the Boot Order.
Hi,
At some time during the powering up process, there will be a display at the bottom that says"at the bottom it says "Press F10 to enter system setup utility". Pls do so to enter CMOS/BIOS configuration. Look for the Boot (Order) page. Once in the page, instructions how to change or move boot priority is usually at the bottom.
Good luck and kind regards.
Hi again,
Pls try pressing F10 even without the message immediately after powering up before the expected "Non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready" shows up.
Alternately, there is a possibility that the hard drive is no longer being detected by the laptop or some of its system files have been corrupted.
Try popping in the CD anyway, might switch to booting from CD since it couldn't from the HD.

I never see the "Press F10 to enter system setup utility". It goes straight to "Non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready". Any ideas?
