How do you wire a duplex switch with one common hot wire to two fans. TWO SWITCHES ON ONE CICUIT?

Do you have a wire coming from each fan to the switch box. if so you are good. if this is the case then you take the hot wire and you put to the black screw side of switch and the black wire from one fan to the gold screw on other side. repeat for other fan black wire. then you wire nut all the white together.



If you only have one wire coming from the fan to te switch box then you need to run a new wire from the fan that does not have a wire going to the switch box and wire it up like mentioned above. You need to figure out if the black wire it the hot or is the red wire the hot. If they are both hot you only use one hot wire on the switch. The other reason you are blowing the moter is when they put the wall board on the wall there can be a screw in the wire giving it a short.
