NetGear RangeMAX 240 WPNT834 Wireless Router Logo

HELP Good Morning: My desktop and laptop can both see the netgear router, I get a great signal and when it says it has connected to the network I still have no connection. I don't know what to do to fix this. We originally bought this router to replace the one we currently have so we could add an additional antenna to reach the cabin that we live in from the main house. the new router won't even allow computers in the main house to connect to the internet and I'm at a total loss .... Here's hoping someone can help this non tech type person !! Warmly Kelly

On the Laptop we are using Windows XP as well as on my desktop PC.

on the new router when i look at the signal symbol the received packets do not change, so it would appear that it is not receiving any information ?

I don't have any firewall turned on on the desktop or the laptop at the moment, though i generally use the windows one

Yes the only trouble we had with the old router was distance, my husband tells me he gave all the same information from the old router to the new one.

Thanks for your reply Pascal, I look forward to your assistance.

I need more information to help you.

1. What is your operating system
2. When clicking on the signal symbol (next to the clock) what number is listed under received.
3. Are you using firewall software.

When using the old router there are no troubles except the lack of distance? if YES --> have you give the new router the exact right encryption information. (there is a big differance between WPA and WPA2 or WEB)

Good Luck,

Pascal
