Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD Recorder Logo

Set 1 My Panasonic Dmr-es15 dvd recorder keeps stating "Set 1" everytime any button on the remote is pressed. It won't let me use the menu, direct navigation, turn it on or off..nothing. I haven't done anything to my settings. I put in a DVD and pressed Menu, it worked fine, during the movie I tried to pause it and the screen on the DVD recorder said "Set 1" it's done this everytime a button has been pressed on the remote since then. I've turned off the recorder from the base unit and turned it back on hoping that would solve the problem but there's been no such luck. I've had the dvd recorder since April, this just makes no sense to me. If anyone knows how to fix it I would appreciate it.

Thank you so much! This worked exactly the way you said. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I had such a fear that I was going to have to throw it out and buy a new one. Thank you again!

I held in the 1 and enter for a few seconds and it was fixed.  Thank you!!!  We left everything unplugged at batteries out of the remote, hoping to reset it, and nothing worked but this trick.  Thanks.

Had this same problem and found the solution elsewhere on the net. Hold down the "1" button and the "Enter" button for aprox 10 seconds while pointing at the player. This "resets" the remote. I was skeptical when I first read this solution but it worked for me!

Thank you I was going crazy. Gotta love the internet

Yes, that truly worked. Note that nothing seems to happen while you are pressing, only when you then get to press power on again

I know this is a dead thread, but I wanted to mention that it worked for me too. Mine came with the message 'Set 3' and when I pressed 3 and Enter at the same time for 10 seconds, it started working. Thanks!

I had the same problem with my Panasonic DMR-EH75V (DVR with DVD Burner/Recorder/Player and VHS player). This fix worked great!!!!

The most important important thing is to hold the keys down for at least a full 10 seconds. I had tried everything including unplugging for 24hrs, taking out remote batteries for 24hrs, and pressing about every combination of keys I could think of. I think I did try "1+enter" at some point, but I don't think I was holding for 10 seconds (more like 5 seconds).

Whoever posted this -- you rock!!!

Thank Al Gore for the Internet! I was ready to throw this player/recorder away because I've had so much trouble with it. Then, I did a quick search on Google and found the solution to the remote control problem. I have been very unhappy with this Panasonic product. It is a real pain to record VHS to DVD and doesn't always work. And I had to buy another remote because the one that came with the player crapped out on me.

SOURCE: Problem with Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-ES15

With a soft cloth, clean the 'hole' area of a DVD that you know worked in the past. Sometimes oils from our fingers get on the disc and then the disk can't spin properly. If the problem persists, open the case and look for two failed capacitors. (See similar solutions on this website.)
