Press the cursor-left key (marked with a one-handed clock) to select the self-timer mode. Your choices are ten-second delay, two-second delay, and no-self-timer. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

The camera has a 10 second self timer. usually when you want to use it.. It only works for one image so you have to set it up for self timer again. On the back you may be able to set the camera to use the self timer. The only ICON I know of in most cameras that has a clock is the self timer.

Say camera is in Tripod and you want to take a group shot and YOU want to be in the photo. You set up and put on Self Timer. You press the shutter and it will take 10 seconds before taking the photo... Enough time for YOU to get int he shot.

How to put a timer on it for like a self portrait?
After winding the film, press the self-timer lever down all the way. The camera will take the picture about ten seconds after you press the shutter release button.

The self-timer lever is on the front of the camera on the left (looking from the front).

go to the mode dial put it on Auto, or P, or M then push the funtion button this will bring up a screen that has the self timer selctions on bottom of display screen. click whcih timer you want and push the shutter down and it will take a few seconds and then take picture

Putting Yourself in the Picture The Self Timer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutter button and the time the picture is taken. 1 Place the camera on a flat surface or use a tripod. 2 In any Still mode, press the Self Timer button. The Self Timer icon appears in the status area. 3 Compose the scene. Then press the Shutter button half-way and hold to set the exposure and focus, then press the rest of the way down. Move so that you are in the scene. The Self Timer light blinks slowly for 8 seconds (then quickly for 2 seconds) before the picture is taken. The camera "clicks" when the picture is captured. To turn off the shutter sound, see page 64. The Self Timer turns off after you take the picture or if you change modes. To cancel the Self Timer before the picture is taken, press the Self Timer button. (The Self Timer setting remains active.) To turn off the Self Timer, press the Self Timer button twice.
