Display problem -- Screen has a vertical band (running top to bottom) about 1 inch wide in apprx center of screen that is very light in color compared to the rest of the display

Hi. There are several different faults that can cause this problem. I will list them below. Software problem. Problem related to software driver. Try reinstalling Mac OS. At a glance I do not think this is a software issue, the computer need repairing. Video adapter. The motherboard integrated video adapter is defective. To fix the problem the motherboard must be replaced. LCD display. A defective LCD panel can cause similar problems, in that case the LCD must be replaced. To find out if the problem is video adapter or display you can connect the Powerbook to an external display. If you have no problem then it is the internal LCD display, otherwise it is the video adapter. Regards.
