I turn my mp3 player on and select music and it says file system error. i also reset the player and nothin happens any advice
Go to the support site:
http://www.support.philips.com/support/catalog_selector.jsp?COOKIE=off
Select and enter your model in the right upper corner in the 'Search' bar:
just start typing SA.... and then select from the list that shows up.
e.g. support site for SA6045/02:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SA6045/02&slg=en&scy=GB
Select the link for 'FILE SYSTEM ERROR' under Latest updates:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/faqview.pl?ctn=SA6045%2F02&dct=QAC&new_tmpl=1&refdisplay=PAV_GENERAL_FILESYSTEMERROR&refnr=0074393&slg=ENG
1. Backup your content from the player to the computer.
2. Perform a format as told in the link.
3. When format has completed you can put back your files to the player.
For sure, the file system is corrupted and is the cause of your woes. In case you do not get anywhere with the support instructions, another fix lies with the Philips Songbird software. If you do not have Songbird, download it for Windows or Mac here:http://www.usa.philips.com/c/mp3-media-player/22126/cat/en/#/difference/philipssongbird.
Once you have Songbird installed, launch it and select "Repair my Philips device" in the Tools menu. Select your device and follow the instructions specific to your device. For example, instructions for the GoGear Vibe are to disconnect the device, power it down completely, and hold the volume-up key during and after USB connection until the message window disappears.
If the repair utility endlessly indicates it is checking for updates, you are likely using an out-of-date version of Songbird - probably the one that came with your GoGear. If this describes your situation, launch Songbird and select "Check for updates" in the Help menu. This will at least get you upgraded to version 1.9 (currently), even though the latest version is 1.11 (currently).
Instructions that came with some older versions for connecting GoGear in repair mode were incomplete. They left out a crucial step of turning off the GoGear and waiting for it to power down completely before reconnecting in repair mode. Newer versions of Songbird include the ability to reformat the device, reset the device, and to get progress updates during synchronization.
