I try to restart my computer (IBM T43 laptop) and it will not boot, it says "Disk read error occured. Press ctrl+alt+delete to restart"
I suspect it has something to do with dropping it on the floor. I took out the hard drive and saw it was dented, so I bent it back to nearly straight again, and I put it back in and I get the same error message. None of this happened before I dropped it. Thanks
If it was dropped on the floor, more than likely, that spinning hard drive is damaged and has failed. The computer caqnnot load the operating system. You will definitely have to replace the hard drive, and hope the data is recoverable. Keep in the mind, the hard drive is constantly spinning, and any shock at 30G's or more can be fatal.
Picture moving a turntable while its playing, accept, instead of spinning at 33.3 rpm's its spinning at 5400 rpms, faster than most car engines......
Good luck.

I face the same problem (when I open it, I receive the message "Disk Error Occured - ........ and it doesn't enter windows) with my IBM Thinkpad T60. All attempts to recover with specialised tools & programs (I put it as a "slave" disk into USB- I can see it but not to access it) went in vain.
