Invalid format have PS3 hooked up through HDMI cable. can hear sound, but there is no picture. all tv says is "invalid format"

Use the power button on the front of the console, to put it in standby mode (red light on).
Then press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps.

This should fixya.... :)
