Your response about the electric chain saw that must be oiled manually was about a self-oiling chain saw so it did not answer my question. How to oil the saw? Use an oil can to spread the oild across the...

Your chain saw is a manually oiled model which means YOU have to pump it.YOU do not pour oil on the chain. An auto oiler model works without you doing anything, the pump is run by the engine. A manual model, you pump the oiler The Chain saw has internal oil channels or holes to apply the oil directly under the chain and into the chain bar guide. Pouring oil on the guide or chain will NEVER lubricate the chain properly. Whomever gave you such an idea is just plain wrong. I sent you the link to the owner manual and gave you a diagram. I have a craftsman gas chain saw model 358.352180. It leaks oil from underneath the saw even when not in use.

Make sure you drain the oil when storing your saw. That's because the saw is designed to supply a generous amount of oil to the chain and bar.

What type of oil is used in the remington 16" chain saw?

From page 9 of a M12510US (bar oil is SAE 30 with additives to help it adhere to the bar and chain):
FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Fill oil tank with SAE #30 motor oil. Note: For temperatures below 30°F, use SAE #10 oil. For temperatures above 75°F, use SAE #40 oil. 3. Replace oil cap at once. Tighten oil cap firmly for good seal. This will avoid oil seepage from tank.
4. Wipe off excess oil.
Note: It is normal for oil to seep when saw is not in use. Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.

This is one of the most complete "Owners Manuals" Remington offers. If not your saw you can find your manual here:

  • Type "YourModelNo" into the "Model #:" window, then click search.
  • Click the YourModelNo - Remington Electric Chain Saw "View Model" link.
  • Click “View Owners Manual” or "View Illustrated Parts Breakdown" link.

Stihl model chainsaw chain oiling rate

If correctly set, the chain will throw a light, thin line of oil off of the tip after running a short time. Set a piece of pasteboard at an angle for a target.

Need to know what kind of oil to put in ryobi chainsaw

If it is an electric chainsaw (not gas powered) then the only oil you need is chainsaw bar oil, which lubricates the chain and bar during use (self feeding system). This goes into the chamber at the top of the saw. You can buy chain/bar oil for chainsaws at any good hardware store or outdoor power equipment store. You can use any brand of chain bar oil, most are pretty good.

If it is a gas/petrol operated model, I will need to know the model number to advise on that.
