Old question, but let's answer it.
You may come across problems registering your device or application due to outdated software or incorrect account credentials. Verify that you have the latest software version on your device. Before you register your device or application, make sure: Your device is connected to the Internet.

input random passcodes (3 or 4 times) until the Fire gives up and warns you that it will reset to Factory Defaults.
This will reset your Fire to how it was when it was made so you will need to:
Find your wifi connection again;
Register your Fire to your Amazon account again.
Download any of your Amazon books or Apps again from your Amazon cloud (Don't worry, you don't have to buy them again, just download them.)
Once the Kindle Fire is locked, there is no override or back door to unlock the device. You will need to contact Amazon to unlock the device. They usually send you a new device.
