Well mostly these lights come with a ballast and the right connector to go from the Ballast to the bulb, if you dont have these then it might just be cheaper to get another set-up. these bulbs run at the high end of the spectrum , in the infa red end of it actually , but really are an ineficient bulb like the mercury-vapour that preceded them compared with the later models , lets say from the 'sonti-agros' till now ( a much more usable spectrum of light and more efficient ) there are a huge range to choose from, as far as the scematics of it well they differ from light to light and brand to brand, hope this has been of some help. geoff
