HP PSC 1210 All-In-One InkJet Printer Logo

Scanning function I have had a 1210 for several years on both ME and XP platforms.Characteristically, the scanning function either stops working or gets 'lost'.  My usual fix has been to remove both power and USB connection from the unit to let it refresh.  This has worked well in the past. Lately though, when Windows reinstalls the device, there is no scanning function.  I have tried to remove the driver and reinstall from original disc, but I get a message from Windows that more up-to-date software is available.  Windows XP will not let me reinstall from the original disc.  The unit is admittedly 'old' and probably should be replaced, but this problem has been bugging me for some months now. Any sugestions?

Been There. Done that. When I load the installation disc a message appears which ionforms me that a newer version of the software in on my machine. It will not let me install from the disc. I have tried using HP's removal software, but it doesn't sufficiently clean the old stuff to let me load from scratch. Thanks anyway.

Well i had the same problem but i suggst to do as the following to see if your problem could be solved you can try to restart the the 1210 or you didnt connect the usb cable rigth cause after you connect the usb cable you need to put in the deskjet disk that came with the 1210 and follow the directions from the wizard.
