Networking Problem Hi, I have this Acer Aspire 3680-2682 and format it last week. I forgot to make a recovery disc and now I can't connect to wireless. I got several networks but when I tried to connect, there is always a "diagnose problem". Local network seems fine. Do you know what's wrong? what other driver should I install? I have intel abg345 wireless lan driver installed. Thanks

By local network do you mean using a wired connection or a wireless connection? I gather you mean with a wire.

The following link is to a PDF page listing the lan drivers from acer for an Aspire 3680 --

Drivers Link

The second and third entries on the list both appear to be wireless adapter drivers for built-in hardware (atheros or broadcom). Are you sure the driver you have loaded is the correct driver?

To determine which if the two may be suitable for your machine try the following

Click Start and right mouse click My Computer and select properties

Select the general tab and click on device manager

find your wireless adapter probably preceded by a yellow question mark (?)

double click on the wireless adapter entry

get the name at the top of the general tab and
the click the details tab and record the
device instance id value

Report what you found back here in a comment.

Hopefully the name will contain atheros or broadcom of not I hope I can lookup the device instance id string to determine the manufacturer of the wireless adapter.
