Lcd problem I am getting the opposite to most people. My laptop will run fine without the plug-in. It will charge with the plug in. But when I try and use the plug-in and run my laptop (for better light and longer use) it turns my screen black. If I disconnect the plug-in battery and close the lid on the laptop, my screen will come back and I am good to go. Can someone help me. tks fahim

Try the power options. You have different settings for power and for battery. Make sure the with power settings is set to never turn off the monitor.

The problem is the inverter cable or the inverter itself.
This is because you have indicated that when you close and open the lid the display returns. I would edge on the fact that the plugs to the inverter are loose but here is the fix>>>>>>
If you have any warranty left on the laptop then i recommend you take advantage of that and send it in for repair, or you can deal with this 2 ways.
Fix the problem yourself.
Remove the screen bezel (plastic screen surround), this will reveal the whole screen. At the bottom of the screen you will see an elongated piece of circuit board with wires coming from either end covered by frosted plastic.
That is the inverter, check the connections on the inverter and power the laptop up to check the display, to remove it gently pull the plugs from each end and remove the screw from the middle and pull the board away.
Look at the inverter for a copper coil, if you re-solder the solder points around the coil you may find it works again as components that suffer from extreme heat the solder joints dry causing bad connections, re-floating the solder solves the problem in 90% of cases.

Take the laptop for repair.
In this case all you have to do is source a reputable PC repair store and take it in for them to fix. (it should be fairly inexpensive).

Honestly i have never heard of this or seen this ever. go into bios and restore factory bios defaults and go to power settings in windows and check them all off to never. it seems as if its a bios or physical hardware issue, if you unplug it when windows is started it just instantly goes black? try to boot with any bootable cd you have and then unplug it. if its ok than its a windows setting. if it does it still, than its a bios setting or faulty laptop.

Is the computer shutting down or going into hibernation when the plug is supplying power? It may be more than just a video problem. Sounds like a power supply problem or a motherboard power management error, unless the power management software is malfunctioning.

To check your Power Management settings open the control panel and select the Power Options icon. Change the preset profiles to a custom setting and see if it makes a difference in LCD performance.
