Ours has never worked right and when we finally found someone to get to the problem they told us the digital controller was bad and was $400 to replace , parts only . Labor $85 an hour,.That that company went belly up and there's no warrenty on the transfer box. I would think they had a problem with this model to begin with.
Ahh good old ASCO. Sounds like you have a problem in the power supply. Asco made a batch of these with the wrong component in the power supply that would eventually short it out and cause the unit to play dead.
I fix these for a living. Asco does make good stuff but the 165 has its downfalls. Kind of like they got the engineers who knew what they were doing to make the 300 series and got the rookies to make the 165.
I can fix the power supply and usually I add a 9 volt battery as a back up. These guys tend to lock up and I haven't found a direct cause but the power supply is weak and the lock ups seem to occur when the unit is transferring or going through an excersize. I think ASCO are phasing them out but we are still fixing them.
Like I said though there still is a lock up issue from factory but we are working on that :)
