Error code C:31:70 i am getting an error code c:31:70 with my sony dsr-25.

C:31:40 is "FG fault when starting drum." In plain terms, the video head assembly is not producing a feedback signal that tells the control circuitry that the heads are spinning. Most probable cause is a bad drum assembly, but check to make sure the flex cable going to the drum is properly seated.

C:31:23 on a DSR-25 indicates a supply reel problem, most likely caused by a defective cassette housing. Best repair solution is to send it to an authorized Sony repair center.

C:31:30 error code shows problem of No FG signal when starting capstan motor.
C:31:23 error code shows problem of No S reel signal to system control.

The error is code is for S reel fault. This is the left reel for rewinding the tape.
