Try this strange fix. Unplug the camera , remove the battery. Slap real hard at the bottom of ur camera 7-10 times. Usually it works. Dont laugh. Good luck

Go to this link. Click on "Frequently Asked Questions" and then click on the appropriate link (#4). Basically, once the firewire cable is connected, make sure that the camcorder is in the playback mode, is turned on, and you see "DV IN" on the LCD. If all that is happening, your computer/software should be able to "see" the camcorder and download the video.
Had the same problem. it's a flex wire that connecting LCD with a camcorder. you can get it from repair shop. I did it by miself it's cheaper.

you do is you press the play/record button on the left side of the
camcorder when it is open to get to the videos. then you use the laser
touch operation to scroll to the video you want to delete. then, right
under the screen there should be 5 buttons. the one to the left of the
menu button has a picture of a garbage can looking thing above it. just
press that and then press yes when it asks you if your sure.
The door might be stuck. Try "helping" it open manually after pressing the eject button. Otherwise, something is probably broken and you might have to call a repairman.
