Really? I've never seen a disc come with a hard drive. Maybe because I always buy OEM stuff. But if you don't have a disc that comes with the drive, there are a few options out there for what we call "cloning" drives. Acronis and EaseUs both make quality products. You can find the EaseUs software here - http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/home-edition/

The drives will usually come with a utility to copy your old drive to the SSD and make the SSD the bootable drive. You just need to have both drives connected at the same time. Check for download instructions in the packaging with the drive or check the manufacturers website.

Computer is probably too old to recognize an SSD. You may be able to find a firmware upgrade. Did you boot into the BIOS and try and find the SSD?

Hello! I use a Lenovo B50-50 laptop. I recently bought a SSD to replace my hard drive is a WD 5000 LPCX 2.5 5400 rpm of 500GB. I want to use it a external hard drive but it needs power supply. Why?

short answer because it needs it.
long answer
because the HDD needs 1 to 2 amperes of current to start the motor and you PC will not do that.
they do sell Y cables for USB. for 2 usb in to PC
and 1 usb end to HDD external case.
for more power.
but the external ac/dc 2amp pack is best.
it is best for using the external, drive on any PC
for the reasons stated (proof) below.
see this chart?, see why the top 4 will not work
if hdd draws 1amp startup (WD5000LPCX)as seen here

https://datasheet.octopart.com/WD5000LPCX-Western-Digital-datasheet-104459145.pdf

1.0amps startup current if above is your drive. spec.
there you go , a short and long answer, can go longer, easy. ask.

Can I replace my SSD drive with non ssd

This should not be a problem. You just need to get a sata drive. The SSD drives are usually faster than the traditional drives though so you might notice a reduction in speed. You can get a hard drive case for your old drive so you can still use it as an external drive

Please tell me if I can install this SSD drive in my Acer Aspire V3-771G laptop. What is the difference between SSD SATA II and III

A sata 3 SSD on a sata 2 PC will slow down slightly to sata 2 speeds, and vice versa. But this is usually acceptable since any current model SSD is much much faster than a normal hard drive so even installing a slower model SSD will be a big improvement. Its analogous to a porsche 911 and a volkswagen beetle. The 911 is faster than the beetle but both are much faster than horses.

your laptop has a normal hard drive. Most SSD's except apple SSD's are the same size and have the same connectors so 99% of the time it will work. you can see pictures of the SSD and compare it with your current hard drive

Cannot install whs on ssd using flash drive

I would suggest cloning the OS install.
Install the OS on the 80GB SSD with the Foxconn board that is giving you troubles with the 40GB SSD. Then clone the drives and swap SSDs.
WHS 2011 probably will throw up a flag stating that it needs to be reactivated because of hardware changes, but it should go smoothly.

When booting my Eee PC, no storage drive can be detected, including the Mini SSD onboard. The booting stopped at asking me to insert a bootable hard drive. So, I tried to use an external DVD ROM to...

It does sound like there's a major problem with the Solid State Drive. When you boot the system, press F1 or F2 (or what is shown) to get into the setup. When in, do you see the drive in question showing on any of the screens?
You may need to open the system up and reseat the SSD.
If reseating it doesn't help, you may be eligible for a replacement SSD from it's manufacturer. Many Solid State devices have a lifetime warranty.

I hope this helps. Post a reply if it doesn't or if you need further help.

HOW TO IMPROVE THE SPEED IN WIN7

The best way to speed up W7 is to install an SSD (Solid State Drive), such as one of these drives:
http://www.compusa.com/applications/category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=5298&name=Internal-Solid-State-Hard-Drives&

While they are expensive, you will_not_ regret the investment. To save $, you don't need to purchase a large SSD drive. Put W7 on a small capacity SSD (commonly referred too as a boot drive) and then use a regular hard drive (your old one) for mass storage. For example, on my computer, I use a 40GB SSD for W7 (C:) and a regular 500GB hard drive (D:) for music, videos, large downloads, pics, etc.

There are also a plethora of websites that will show you how to speed up W7. Here is one:
http://www.computingunleashed.com/speed-up-windows-7-ultimate-guide-to.html

Another way to speed up W7 is to install more memory, but you won't get near the noticeable performance increase as an SSD. In fact, after installing an SSD, if you try to enable ready boost on a flash drive W7 will tell you that it is not neccessary because you already have an SSD that is faster.

Install SSD drive in a Panasonic laptop

What problem are you having in trying to install a SSD in the laptop?
These solid state hard drive will install exactly as a normal hard drive, provided the BIOS can detect this SSD.
They are more expensive than a normal hard drive based on $s per byte.

How to load new ssd for eee pc

By SSD I assume you are refering to a Solid State Drive to replace your existing hard drive. If this is the case you need to install the drive and then boot off the CD that came with your computer and reinstall the operating system. Note that all you old info will still be on the original hard drive but you can still access it by purchasing a 2.5 inch USB hard drive enclosure. When you plug it into a USB port it will be detected as a second hard drive.
