On my GT1554 I couldn't get the hydrostatic drive pulley off in order to replace the belt, so I removed the 4 bolts from the engine mounts and was then able to move the shaft around a bit to slip the new belt onto the pulley. Don't know if this is the same problem you're facing - but I hope this helps...
