Canon EOS Rebel XSi Digital Camera Logo
Posted on Jun 28, 2009

EOS Utility I purchased a Rebel Xsi, and installed the software. Upon connecting my camera to my computer, and launching the EOS Utility, the options to download the images, select images, or camera settings are shaded out. In order to transfer pictures, I have to go into "My Computer", open up the camera and copy and paste it. I have updated all of the software from Canon's website with the June 2009 updates, and the problem persists. Thanks for the help.

I got the same problem updating the EOS Utility. The version on the original SXi CD is 2.4.0.1. The upgrade is version 2.6.1. I suggest you to uninstall all the updated software. Or at least the EOS Utility. Go to the folder <C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\CANON_INC>
In this folder you can find a folder beginin with a name like:
EOS_Utility.exe_StrongName_muhfu2gnawkmjd0qlpv1espmrau2qmqw
Delete this folder. You must set the folder options to show the hidden folders.
Reinstall the EOS Utility 2.4.
If not works, please try to contact me, using the button "Ask Me" on my profile's page.
