Eats Tapes I'm pretty sure that this can be dealt with by cleaning the heads. How?

Well I can tell you how to clean the heads but I doubt it will cure the tape chewing problem.

First you need a can of Servisol Video 40. You can get this from electronic shops such as Maplin (UK) or Radio Shack (USA). Amazon and e-bay also sell it.

Remove the top cover of the VCR. You can unplug it if you wish, but you might want to use it with the cover off later. You should be able to see the video head - the large cylinder. Spray the sides of the head with the Servisol. With a cotton bud wipe the sides of the head. The head should be shinny and clean when you have done. Now locate the other video heads. These will be square shaped with wires coming out of them. They will have shinny surfaces too. Spray the shinny surface and wipe with a bud. You might also want to clean the rubber roller, simply spray and wipe. It's a good idea to clean all the surfaces the tape touches. If you don't know which, watch the tape playing when you first take the lid off. If you watch the tape playing it will show you which part is chewing the tape. Often it's caused by the rubber roller which is worn.

Allow the Servisol to dry before putting any tape in. It will dry very quick. If spots appear on the picture, then clean again.
