Getting an error code of flashing 9 times then pause then flashing

The scooter was laid up over the winter and when we came to try it got the error code of 9 flashes then pause, 9 flashes then pause etc. Have checked the drive lever is not in neutral (have checked the wiring and the switch and it seems fine). what does a 9 flash error code mean?

9-flash usually indicates a blown controller. The larger pride scooters are known for blowing controllers and having melt-downs when they are pushed or towed too fast. EVEN WITH THE KEY OFF the controller still monitors the safety systems. If the system detects a "roll-away" situation, the controllers turn on and go into dynamic braking mode in attempt to slow or stop the scooter. If the scooter is being towed or pushed and this happens, the scooter tries to stop the motion, overheats and burns up. Catastrophic failure and 9-flashes will result.

SOURCE: I have a pride gogo

  • What that flash code indicates that there is that the battery voltage is to high to operate the scooter. This can happen for a number of reasons and from out of no where. The manual says you should contact GoGo for this problem. But I know a couple things to try and if they do not work then you need to contact GoGo.
  1. First remove the battery connectors for 5 full minutes and see if that resets it.
  2. You may have a wire that got caught up somewhere so check all wires for breaks in the insulation, cracks etx.
  3. Check the fuse as well.
  4. Push in the main circuit breaker reset button (see diagram)

  • Here is the GoGo Pride Scooter website should you need to contact them and if what I listed does not work then you need to. The things I list are some at home troubleshooting tips GoGo does not offer. They say to contact them immediately. http://www.pridemobility.com/contact.asp
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: my dad's pride celebrity scooter has new

Hi. The batteries for these things seem to go bad rather quickly when they are not used, but here is something to try..... So called "smart chargers" are what everything is going to. They analyze the condition of the battery and if everything is good, charge it. If everything is not good, according to the parameters of that charger, they don't. My suggestion is to take the battery out of the unit and try an old-fashioned analog battery charger for a little while, set to the proper voltage for the battery, of course, and monitored closely to measure the effects. If the batteries seem to take a charge, put them back in and run it a bit, then try the on-board charger again, just don't wait until the batteries are completely drained this time.

Testimonial: "thanks for response. i told him even new batteries should be charged before use."

SOURCE: NO DRIVE ON MY PRIDE REVO MOBILITY SCOOTER

You can try to do this with the cover off, just in case it is not seated properly and holding the lever from fully engaging. The actual swithc is a small microswitch down at the brake, and it can get dirt in it and that will stop it from working, or it may even fail, and need to be replaced. So I would:
1) try it woth the shroud off the motor using.
2) look for dirt around the switch.
3) take a paperclip and jump the scooter side of the switch to bypass the microswitch on the scooter, be careful not to short the jumper to the scooter frame.

Let me know how you make out.
Dan
