I have a 40GB HDD with dual operating system Win XP & Vista. Now Win XP not work properly. So I have to format that HDD n install only one operting system Win XP. But Win XP bootable not work properly...

Hi and welcome ygshaikh !
Here is one solution ( there are maybe others ) easy to use if your pc is a desktop :
extract the hdd from your machine and connect it to a healthy computer ( in a external USB box or strait inside the pc ) . Format the drive and reinstall it in your machine . You will now be able to install Win XP .

Enter Bios , Disable AHCI and Enable IDE if you want to install XP

(You may find that configuration in advance settings in BIOS)

Have Thinkcentre which boots in Win 7 and 2 Win XP

Try to re-install 2 Operating systems use this order,
1,Install windows XP by booting the XP cd,
2,and then install Win 7 by booting from Win 7 cd.
Then while you restart computer there will be a prompt menu asking to select OS to start. Thanks

Windows 7 revert back to Win XP

I think that what's important is license key of your Win XP, the installer for Win XP can be downloaded from any download site now a days. If you have a friend or know someone who has the Win XP installer, you can barrow it from them or have it copied on another disc. Then use the license key that you have from your previous operating system (Win XP).

You must also make sure that the installer that you will be using is the same version that you used to have before installing Win 7. I hope this one helped in a way.

please check out in my computer systems device manager if anything in the sound section is in red or yellow remove it. unless win xp was made for your laptop the drivers are not there. you need to go to compaq web site and download your drivers.

which is the version of xp u have.. i think xp sp2 has the xp drivers or you can manually load the drivers when trying to install xp pressing a f6 key.. for which you must have the floppy disk with the sata drivers from the hard disk manufacturer..
