CPU compatability My Acer 5315 has: Socket-P Intel Celeron 550 2GHz, 533MHz FSB, 1M cache I was thinking of upgrading the CPU to: Socket-P Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 Merom 2.2GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4MB L2 65nm How can I find out if the motherboard can handle it? (...and is this a good decision?)

The manufacturer's website should have a cpu compatibility guide that will tell you which processors your motherboard supports. As to the other issue of fsb, it depends if your motherboard supports higher fsb's than 533. Some support more some are locked at 533 so it again depends on the board your computer manufacturer used. It should be listed on you system build sheet that you got when you bought your computer. If not it should be available on their website. If all else fails & you feel comfortable opening up your system you can get the part # or model # from the board itself. You can put an 800 mhz fsb cpu in as long as it's the same socket type but be forewarned if your board is one that has a locked fsb then your newer cpu will operate at the slower speed making your purchase basically worthless.
