What would happen if I replaced a 550MHZ processor with a 800MHz, or an even higher processor? Would it always overclock or would it be pretty safe? Does it matter if its dual-core or single-core to keep it from OC'ing?
Overclocking is adjusting the speed of which a cpu works at (processor = cpu) replacing a cpu is not overclocking and wont cause any problems aslong as the cpu is ment for the motherboard and is supported. depending on the motherboard you may not be able to place in a 800MHZ cpu, but if you find one that fits and works on your model sure go ahead, it wont cause any problems, other than possibly overheating if the cooling is designed for a slower processor.

I was also wondering how i can find out which CPU's are compatable with my Acer 5315, as far as dual-core and how high I can bring the FSB to.
