About the processor of alienware

I am pretty curious that based on my understanding of processors, I think the processors of 3.9 GHz is faster than 3.8 GHz. I want a 14" laptop, and I also want the fastest processor. I saw 4.3GHz i7 processor in alienware 18, but this processor is not an option of alienware 14. Is that processor inappropriate for alienware 14? Or can I choose that?

The only information I have been able to find states that it can support upto the I7-4900MQ (8MB Cache, upto 3.8ghz w/Turbo Boost)

So in answer to your question, I think only MQ series (There is also an MX series) is compatible.
Although the 4th Gen I7-4900MQ can be overclocked to 4.0ghz with no issues.

SOURCE: 1.8 GHz Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+ processor upgrade

To upgrade your system with AMD 3000+ sempron processor is a little bit difficult. AMD 3000+ requires a new motherboard that may not be compatible with your laptop. So I suggest you to get your laptop exchanged with a new one with the above.

SOURCE: processor upgrade

Hi ryonsdad,

I checked out the Latitude D610 laptop, and you'll be glad to know that you have the following processor upgrade options:

1.) Pentium M 780 Processor - 2.26 GHz, 2MB, 780, Pentium-M Dothan, 533FSB (fastest upgrade)
2.) Pentium M 770 Processor - 2.13 GHz, 2MB, 770, Pentium-M Dothan, 533FSB
3.) Pentium M 760 Processor - 2.0 GHz, 2MB, 760, Pentium-M Dothan, 533FSB
4.) Pentium M 750 Processor - 1.86 GHz, 2MB, 750, Pentium-M Dothan, 533FSB
5.) Pentium M 740 Processor - 1.73 GHz, 2MB, 740, Pentium-M Dothan, 533FSB (slowest upgrade)

You can buy these processors from Dell Spareparts or otherwise from a 3rd party store.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)

SOURCE: need 2 install the fastest PIII processor possible on CpxJ650GT

you obviously seem to have the adequate knolledge so why dont you overclock it...
overclocking used to be a touchy subject but know its undrstood that that it creates no problems..the chips are designed to be overclocked,in fact overclocked should now not be the trerminology for it ...it was called overclocking cos then it wasnt natural and created unstable systems ..now it is merely enhancing .
